Churches across the country, including the St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church at Jemmotts Lane, St Michael, have begun their Good Friday services.

Staying true to their tradition, members of the cathedral embarked on their Good Friday Stations of the Cross procession around 6 a.m.

They departed Jemmotts Lane and took the message to nearby communities including Wellington Street and Nelson Street and re-enacted the stages of the cross on what is recognised as the Crucifixion Day on the Christian calendar.

Along the way they also prayed for the communities.

Bishop Neil Scantlebury said they were honoured to carry out their duties to pray and uplift the communities.

“This is a blessing. We need to ask God to continue to bless our communities and prevent violence from occurring,” he said.

Our Lady Queen of the Universe in Black Rock will hold their service at 3 p.m.

Several Anglican Churches held Mass in the morning and some will do so again at noon. (TG)
