Did self-confessed burglar Hakeem Zoe Isiah Robinson end up with consecutive sentences as a result of the way his compensation order was made? That will be the focus of his appeal, which resumes next month in the Court of Appeal.

Robinson, of Bartlett’s Tenantry, Sargeant’s Village, Christ Church, pleaded guilty to entering Emmerson Trotman’s house on January 3, 2018, and stealing $200 while armed with a firearm.
He also pleaded guilty to robbing Trotman of a cellphone, wallet, watch, US$120 and BDS$1 160 on the same date.
Justice Carlisle Greaves ordered him to pay $15 000 on the first count and $10 000 on the second. However, after three extensions, during which Robinson failed to come up with the money, the judge activated the three-year alternative, for non-payment, on each count.
Yesterday, Robinson argued that his sentences were excessive “due to the length of time between sentencing and the crime committed”.
