Well-known road tennis player Alexander “Fyah” Clarke lost his life in an accident yesterday morning on Highway 6 at the junction of Searles Factory Yard Road, Searles, Christ Church.

Police said Clarke, 47, was riding a motorcycle and travelling from the St Patrick’s area when the crash, which involved two other vehicles, occurred around 8:50 a.m.

Eyewitnesses said some people on the scene called for an ambulance which then transported the accident victim to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Clarke, who was the father of five and lived in Cave Land, St Philip, later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of one of the vehicles said she was on her way to work when the incident occurred.

She said while she heard the impact of the collision, she did not see when it occurred as she had her eyes closed.

Police reported that the two drivers complained of minor injuries and sought private medical treatment.

Clarke’s death was recorded as the sixth on the roads so far for the year.

Meanwhile, police have renewed calls for information on the fatal accident

which occurred along Waterford Road, St Michael, near the Clyde Walcott roundabout on May 12.

The accident, which claimed the life of Hensley Hinkson, 70, of Dalkeith Road, also in St Michael, took place around 9:50 p.m.

At the time, Hinkson’s was the fifth road death for the year.

Police are asking the driver of a white car, who they understand may have witnessed this accident, to contact District ‘A’ Police Station at 430-7242, 430-7246 or 430-7249.
