Small craft advisory extended

Moderate to strong winds continue to affect Barbados’ marine space, and the small craft advisory for the island was again extended, this time to 6 a.m. Saturday.

The Barbados Meteorological Services says the Atlantic High-pressure System is generating wind speeds of 20 to 25 knots across Barbados and the surrounding marine area, which could present some challenges to smaller vessels operating in open water.

While a slight decrease in wind speeds is expected by tomorrow, fluctuations over the weekend could present occasionally hazardous conditions.

In this instance, a small craft advisory is issued when sustained winds of 20 to 25 knots are affecting or forecast to affect the marine area within the next 36 hours.

This bulletin may be terminated sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
