Family in fear

A St John family is living in fear of being murdered after escaping a double assault on two homes when one was shot up and the other set on fire with a child inside yesterday.

The Joneses of Colleton showed chilling security footage of men approaching one house with a container and firing upon the other early yesterday morning as the occupants, including an 11-year-old, were cuddled up sleeping.

Police confirmed a probe into the incident, in which no one was physically harmed, and made an appeal for witnesses.

Homeowner Sonia Jones and one of her three sons, Rasheed Jones, believe the attack is linked to him testifying – reluctantly – during a murder trial after a man was shot dead on his doorstep in 2020. A man has since been convicted but last week another man was charged with committing perjury during that murder trial. (Nation News Desk)
