A father who was liming with his partner and child on Monday night was shot dead by a masked gunman.

Akil “Blacks” Hinds, 36, of Sandbox Avenue, Bayville, St Michael, was near his home when he was suddenly attacked by a bandit who allegedly made off with a gold chain, which Hinds’ friends said had been recently repaired.

Police reported that the incident, the 37th homicide for the year, occurred around 10:10 p.m.

“Initial investigations have shown that a male was sitting on the bonnet of a car when he was approached by an armed person wearing a mask. That person discharged a number of gunshots that struck the victim. He was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a private motor car, where he succumbed to his injuries,” police said.
