Consultant Pathologist Dr Stephen Jones yesterday testified that deceased Tarik Straker was shot five times and died of haemorrhage and shock from gunshot injuries.

He was testifying in the trial of Jaiden Malike Millington in the No. 3 Supreme Court.

Millington, of Bath Land, St John, is accused of murdering 22-year-old Straker, formerly of Long Gap, Spooners Hill, St Michael, on December 23, 2020.

Jones said when he performed the post-mortem, he found a gunshot entry wound to the lower left anterior chest or the upper abdomen.

The bullet passed through the anterior chest wall, into the peritoneal cavity, through the left lobe of the liver, the spleen, the left abdominal cavity, the left half of the diaphragm, the left lung and into the space between the tenth and 11th ribs.

He recovered a bullet from the left side of the back.

The second gunshot wound was located at the left side of the chest. It went through the third intercostal space, into the right chest cavity and the right lung. That bullet then struck a rib and was deflected into the subcutaneous tissue.

The pathologist said the third gunshot injury was an entry wound to the lower left back which had a corresponding exit wound; the fourth gunshot injury was to the left, lower forearm with a corresponding exit wound on the opposite side of the firearm, while the fifth injury was to the right elbow.
