Discussions between the Barbados Community College (BCC) and the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) have ended without a final resolution.

In a statement issued on Friday, the College said the negotiations—which centred on the institution’s decision to fill a vacant post – were held over several weeks and conducted “in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.”

Despite progress during the talks, both parties were unable to reach consensus on the issue.

Principal of the BCC, Annette Alleyne, thanked the union for its engagement throughout the discussions.

“We acknowledge the constructive engagement of the NUPW throughout this process. While it is regrettable that we were not able to reach a final agreement, the College remains committed to maintaining open lines of communication and to continuing efforts toward a fair and sustainable resolution,” Alleyne said.

The BCC added that it remains committed to the well-being of its staff and to ensuring that its academic and administrative operations continue in the best interests of students and the wider community.
