An exceptional bowling performance from Miguel Cummins and a superb knock by Deswin Currency were the highlights of the first half of the Barbados Cricket Association’s Super 50 final on Sunday.

Wildey won the toss and batted first on a good surface at Kensington Oval. They made 227 for nine off 50 overs – as they recovered from 130 for seven in the 30th over.

Currency was the key to Wildey’s recovery as he made 56 not out off 62 balls which included four boundaries and a six. He shared a crucial last wicket stand of 47 with Tariq O’neal, who made nine not out. Cummins, the experienced fast bowler, took four wickets for 47 as off his 10 overs.

He had a two-wicket in his opening spell and returned to take two more wickets in two balls in his second spell. Off-spinner Ashley Nurse was also effective in the middle overs with three wickets for 35 runs from his 10 overs.

SUMMARISED SCORES: Wildey 227-9 off 50 overs (Deswin Currency 56 not out, Carlos Maynard 42, Demetrius Richards 40; Miguel Cummins 4-47, Ashley Nurse 3-35). Gladiola need 228 to win off 50 overs. (PS)
