The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) has extended the High Wind Advisory for the island as strong winds associated with a tropical wave continue to affect the island.

Sustained winds between 47 and 65 kilometres per hour are expected throughout Sunday afternoon, with occasional higher gusts likely during periods of shower activity. Conditions are forecast to gradually improve overnight.

The BMS has warned that the strong winds may cause unsecured objects such as tents, garbage bins, and inflatable structures to tumble or roll, and there is a possibility of injury or danger to life from flying debris.

The advisory was issued at noon on Sunday and is expected to remain in effect until 6 p.m. today, or sooner if conditions improve. (BMS)
