Deacon’s Primary School will reopen its doors on Monday, after essential repair and upgrade works were completed over the weekend.

Director of the Education Technical Management Unit (ETMU), Wayne Baker, confirmed that several improvements were made to bring the school to an acceptable standard for classes to resume.

These included upgrades to the washrooms, replacement of windows in selected classrooms, and the installation of mesh on wrought iron gates, as recommended by the environmental unit.

Additionally, industrial cleaning was carried out in the IT room, staff room, and classrooms where windows were replaced.

Baker said that work at the St Michael school would continue in phases over the coming weeks.

“Upgrades will continue during the weekend periods going forward and throughout the Christmas break until the work is completed,” he assured.

The Ministry of Educational Transformation has pledged to maintain communication with teachers, staff, parents, and the teachers’ unions throughout the process as students and staff return to school on Monday.
