West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder finally made his long-awaited debut for the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but it couldn’t prevent them from going down by five wickets to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) here on Friday.

Playing in his first match seven games into the season, Holder, the Titans’ costliest purchase for Rs 7 crore (US$743, 857.10) at the 2026 auction, blasted an unbeaten 23 off 10 balls, inclusive of two sixes and one four to help them post a competitive 205 for three in their 20 overs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Opener Sai Sudharsan led the way with an even 100 off 58 balls with 11 fours and five sixes.

Holder returned to grab the prized scalp of Virat Kohli, but RCB easily chased down their target, reaching 206 for five with seven balls remaining.

Player-of-the-Match Kohli slammed 81 off 44 balls with eight fours and four sixes, while Devdutt Padikkal made 55 off 27 deliveries, with the two sharing a match-winning partnership of 115 in 10 overs for the second wicket.

Rashid Khan took 2-49, while Holder claimed 1-35 in 3.5 overs. (CMC)
