But he panicked after hitting Samara Bristol and he tried to “conceal” her body.
So said Sealy yesterday when he gave his defence in the No. 4 Supreme Court.
Sealy, 59, of Airy Cot, St Thomas, is accused of murdering Barbadian/American Samara Bristol, between November 16 and 21, 2021.
Opting to remain in the dock for an unsworn statement, the accused began by saying: “I’m sorry for what ever happen and it was never my intention to hurt anyone.”
The accused said when he went home on November 16, 2021, and tried to unlock the door with his key, it did not work.
“I try five more keys and none worked,” he said.
The accused said he then walked around to the back of the house and tried his key in the lock on that door. That key did not work in that lock either.
“So I came back around to the front and tried again and none worked,” the accused said.
“I tek up piece of stick from in the gallery ’cause the house was under construction that I was building. I break out the glass closest to the lock, push in my hand and open the lock from the inside,” Sealy said.
It was then, the accused told the court, that he was attacked by someone inside.
“When I get inside, not knowing anyone was there, Ms Bristol she attacked me, telling me I can’t come in the house,” he said.
The accused said Bristol went into the kitchen and came back with a knife.
“And then she proceed to come at me,” the accused told the court.
“So I defend myself and I struck her. And as soon as she fall to the ground, that was the last blow she received from me,” the accused said.
“I’m not proud of what happen but I did. I panicked. I should have gone to the police but I panicked. I tried to conceal the body and I did move it,” he said. (HLE)
