Some FLOW Barbados customers are reporting unexpected increases on their latest mobile postpaid bills, with the telecommunications company acknowledging that a recent change to its billing system resulted in some people recording higherthan- usual data usage. Among the complaints circulating on social media were customers whose bills reportedly jumped from $95 to $140, another from $130 to $165, one from $410 to $589.32, and another from $265 to $435.
Several customers complained that the increases came without warning.
FLOW, responding to questions from this newspaper, said it received queries from “a number of mobile postpaid customers” who were noticing higher-than-usual data usage on their latest bills.
Enhancement
The company said it recently implemented an enhancement to the way mobile data usage is captured and recorded.
“Following this change, we identified instances where the data usage consumed was more than they may have experienced in previous billing periods,” the company said.
The company said it understood that an unexpected increase in billed data usage could be concerning and that its teams were reviewing affected accounts.
“Our teams have been carefully reviewing the affected accounts to ensure that the billing information is accurate and that customers are appropriately supported,” the company said.
The response did not specify how many customers were affected or whether customers whose bills were found to be inaccurate would receive refunds or credits. (NS)
