Met Office warns of possible flooding

The Barbados Meteorological Services has issued a flash-flood watch for the country as it continues to feel the effects of a tropical wave.

The wave is forecast to generate sporadic moderate to heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms across open waters east of the island. As it moves westward, it has the potential to bring an additional one to two inches of rainfall accumulations to the country, which could in turn generate flooding across low-lying areas.

Members of the public are advised to stay updated on this system.

A Flash-Flood Watch is issued when heavy or excessive rainfall could result in the possibility of rapid flooding (generally within two hours). Flash-Flood watches could be issued up to 48 hours in advance, but it does not mean that flooding will occur.

This Flash-Flood Watch was issued at 10 a.m. today and will be terminated at 6 a.m. Tuesday, or sooner if conditions warrant. (PR/SAT)
