by Ezra StuartBIG-HITTING all-rounder Ryan Nurse has been omitted from a 37-man Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) squad invited to training and practice sessions in preparation for the 2010 West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Twenty20 Competition, slated for the latter half  of July. Nurse played in the last Stanford Twenty20 Tournament in 2008. Another notable absentee is Carlos Brathwaite, who was recently flown in from Trinidad and Tobago where he was playing club cricket to play in a World T20 warm-up game against Bangladesh. But the BCA, in a release yesterday, made it clear that players on professional contracts and those not in the initial squad who give outstanding performances during the Sagicor Twenty20 competition would still be considered for selection. This is confusing since some other players, who are overseas, have been named among the invitees. However, it means that the door remains open for Brathwaite and his Banks’ teammate Jonathan Carter. “By the same token, those in the original squad who do not meet the standards of fitness, attendance or punctuality will be cut from the training squad,” the release noted. The BCA said sessions would be conducted by its coaching staff weekly at Queen’s Park from Tuesday to Thursday, beginning tomorrow and ending on July 17. It was also pointed out that players chosen for the WICB’s High Performance Centre will not be available for selection  to the national team.Information reaching NATION SPORT  is that wicketkeeper Shane Dowrich,  all-rounder Shamarh Brooks, fast-bowling all-rounder Jason Holder and the Combined Campuses and Colleges’ duo of Kevin McClean and Kyle Corbin are the five Bajans who will enrol in the Centre. The final squad to represent Barbados will be selected on July 1.The squadLarry Babb, Sulieman Benn, Derick Bishop, Rashidi     Boucher, Renaldo Brathwaite, Alex Bridgeman, Patrick Browne, Nikolai Charles, Miguel Cummins, Kirk Edwards, Corey Edwards, Marlon Franklyn, Kirk Gibson, Marlon Graham, Jason Haynes, Ryan Hinds, Jason Hinds, Alcindo Holder, Kyle Hope, Ronaldo Kellman, Joel Leacock, Antonio Mayers, Carlo Morris, Martin Nurse, Ashley Nurse, Amal Nurse, Shane Ramsey, Dale Richards, Kemar Roach, Jevon Searles, Dwayne Smith, Khalid Springer, Kevin Stoute, Aubrey Towler, Ryan Wiggins, Kenroy Williams, Barrington Yearwood.
