NINETY-YEAR-OLD Joseph Alleyne did a water dance last week when, for the first time in his life, he was able to enjoy running water at his home. From the time he was a child,  Alleyne has been fetching water for personal use from standpipes or from neighbours because he had never  been fortunate to have it installed  at his home. But his lifelong dream finally came true when Soroptimist International helped him to get water installed  at his Waverly Cot, St George home.“When it got turned on, the first thing I did was to catch water to bathe and then I wash some clothes. I feel really good that I don’t have to leave home anymore to get water. I don’t have  to worry about where to get water from to bathe when I have to go to church,” he gushed.Alleyne lives in a small one-room plywood hut. He said his next wish was to have a decent house built before  he departs this earth. (MB)
