A 37-YEAR-OLD MAN who fondled the breasts of a 15-year-old girl and only stopped when she claimed to have reached the residence of a family member will be back later in the Sessions for sentencing.
Curtis Deighton Wilkinson, 37, of Garden Land, Country Road, St Michael, admitted when he appeared in the No. 5 Supreme Court yesterday that he indecently assaulted the girl on June 7, 2006.
The case was prosecuted by Crown Counsel Lancelot Applewhaite, while Angella Mitchell-Gittens represented Wilkinson.
Mitchell-Gittens asked for a pre-sentencing report, and the request was granted by Justice Randall Worrell, who adjourned sentencing until later in the Sessions. Wilkinson remains on bail.
Applewhaite, who outlined the facts, said Wilkinson was employed as a Bobcat operator and the piece of heavy-duty equipment had broken down in Thyme Bottom, Christ Church.
While the Bobcat was being repaired, the complainant passed and gave the usual greetings to those who were present. Wilkinson, however, followed her and began to form conversation. He put his hand over her shoulder, fondled her left breast, and made a comment.
The girl removed Wilkinson’s hand and walked away in an attempt to avoid him.
However, Wilkinson kept pace with her, continued to make more comments and eventually slapped her on her buttocks.
The teenager crossed the road to avoid him but he pulled her back towards him and, this time, fondled both breasts.
The girl got away from him and said she was at her aunt’s house. When Wilkinson stopped and turned away, she continued home.
