A VINCENTIAN NATIONAL who evaded drug charges from 2001 has again been arrested on similar charges.
Kirtis Joseph Quashie, 39, of Belair, St Vincent and the Grenadines, was arrested following a drugs seizure by members of the Drug Squad of the Royal Barbados Police Force.
The seizure occurred on April 22 off the coast of St James. Police reported that 850 kgs of cannabis was seized and one man, also believed to be a Vincentian national, was shot and killed. Quashie was also shot and is hospitalised.
He has been charged with possession of cannabis, trafficking, possession with intent to supply, and importation, and appeared at the Holetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.
Quashie was arrested and charged previously on similar charges, which were before the Supreme Court of Barbados in 2001, but he absconded on bail in 2004.
At the time he was charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, and trafficking. (CA)
