SEVERAL CHANGES were made to the executive committee of the Barbados Badminton Association at the recent annual general meeting at the office of the Barbados Olympic Association.
The new president is Kevin Wood of the Shuttlers Badminton Club, and the vice-president is Andrew Clarke, also of Shuttlers. Returning secretary is Mervyn Gordon of the Pioneers, with his clubmate Keith Browne the new assistant secretary.
Rhonda Scantlebury will be the treasurer; Kelvin Martin and Gloria Chung of Pioneers the floor members, and Shuttlers’ Janelle Denny, the public relations officer.
There was a hung vote between Shakeira Waite of Shuttlers and Sabrina Scott of Pioneers for players’ representative and that will be decided by the current junior and senior players at a later date.
The first order of business for the new executive will be the Senior National Badminton Championships to be held at the Wildey Gymnasium from June 14 to 18 to decide who will be representing Barbados at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Puerto Rico next month. (PR/SAT)
