ONE OF THE world’s most popular whisky brands, Dewars Blended Scotch Whisky has launched a partnership with one of Barbados’ largest distributors, Brydens Barbarees Ltd.
Brydens has been chosen by Dewars’ parent company, Bacardi Corporation to spearhead the marketing and distribution of the award-winning Scotch whisky in Barbados.
Dewars is the top selling Scotch whisky in the United States, and boasts some of the fastest growing products in the Scotch whisky category internationally, having amassed over 200 prestigious awards from independent tastings all over the world.
The new partnership arrangement was introduced to the Barbados market along with the exciting Dewars product line-up at a recent House of Dewars Workshop, conducted at the Savannah Hotel, by Ewan Gunn, Global Brands Ambassador for John Dewar and Sons Ltd.
Featuring a mix of participants drawn from the retail, wholesale and event-planning divisions, the workshop at the Savannah Hotel was one of two such events held for educational and marketing purposes – the first having been held for members of the staff and sales force of Brydens.
CEO Ricky Nurse said the company was excited about the new arrangement which coincides with the start of the annual Crop-Over Festival.
“We are looking forward to growing the Dewars Brand in Barbados and really could not have asked for a better time to start,” Nurse stated.
Gunn, who conducted the workshops, said the partnership with Brydens had already begun to pay dividends and looked extremely promising for the future, particularly for Dewars 12, the company’s double-aged, flagship Scotch whisky brand.
“Dewar’s 12 is where we see a lot of potential for growth because it’s still reasonably new to this market, and globally; but it is growing internationally at a huge pace.
“One of the special things we do with the Dewar’s 12 is the double ageing process which no other major company does, which helps to make a really rounded, smooth, full bodied but really balanced liquid.” (PR)
