SEVERAL SMALL ENTREPRENEURS got the opportunity to showcase their locally produced goods at what was being billed as a vendors fiesta on Spring Garden Highway yesterday.
The event was organised by four Government agencies: the Ministry of Agriculture, the Barbados Agricultural Development & Marketing Corporation, the Rural Development Commission, and the Urban Development Commission (UDC).
Under the theme All Things Bajan, vendors offered for sale locally produced fruits and vegetables, plants, clothing and jewellery, food, and preserves among others.
Wendy Burke, public relations officer at the UDC, said it was the first event of its kind to be organised by the four agencies.
“They came together to give exposure to people from various areas of entrepreneurship to come out and vend,” she said.
There was also a jumping tent and games for the children, as well as live performances from Barbadian entertainers.
Burke said there were 39 registered stalls and that Barbadians responded positively to the event which began at 6 a.m. and concluded at 10 p.m. (MB)
