Good showing by young gymnasts

NINETEEN GYMNASTS and 22 medals.
It’s the latest success story of the Barbados Amateur Gymnastics Association.
Their 19-member team recently returned from last weekend’s Trinidad and Tobago Invitation after a credible performance at the two-day meet.
Led by the efforts of LaToya Ince, Shakayla Estwick and Abigail Mustor, the Bajan lasses captured nine gold, nine silver and four bronze medals to go along with first place all-around trophies for the aforementioned three in levels nine, four and three, respectively.
Additionally, the Level 3 and 4 teams both came third in their all-round competitions, while the Level 5 squad finished just short of the overall team trophy.
Ince, the only Level 9 female gymnast in Barbados, won all her events in the absence of another competitor at her level, while Estwick took the top spot in the vault, bars and floor routine and finished fifth on the beams.
Mustor, however, was fourth on the bars prior to sweeping the beam and floor routine on her way to a first-place all-round prize, equalling the performance of Estwick and Ince. (JM/PR)
