THE Puckerin family of St. Philip had the fright of their lives on Thursday. That’s because they discovered an explosive buried in the groundsill of their Edgecumbe home.
One member of the household removed the explosive with percussion cap and burnt fuse.
The matter was reported to officers of the District C Station in St. Philip and station sergeant Denis Small told the SATURDAY SUN, it is the third time in the last three years that such an incident has occurred.
Small said that in 2008 and 2009, there were similar reports in St. John.
“The police is very concerned. It is a matter we are viewing seriously and it will be pursued by detectives from the southern division.
“Its a dangerous device and we will be trying to ascertain where a person could obtain it from,” Small said. (MK)
