Garrison bat Toppin hits ton, takes 5 wickets

AN OUTSTANDING all-round performance by Garrison Secondary’s Jafari Toppin highlighted the opening day of the 2010 LIME Under-15 Cricket Competition yesterday.The third-former scored a century and grabbed a five-wicket haul to guide his team to first innings honours over Grantley Adams Memorial at Blackmans.Toppin, a national Under-15 representative, took five for 17 to restrict the hosts to 92 with his medium-pace.Batting at No. 4, he hit 110 off 91 balls with 13 fours and six sixes in dominating a response of 165 for four.Another impressive performance came from Coleridge and Parry medium-pacer Jewaum Cumberbatch who bagged eight wickets for four runs to send Parkinson tumbling for a modest 15.Combermere left-arm spinner Matthew Jones snapped up a six-wicket haul against KFC Ellerslie who were limited to 120.Summarised scoresZone AAt The Pine: Parkinson Memorial 15 (Jewaum Cumberbatch 8-4) and 24-3 (D.
