LOCAL AWARD-WINNING writer, Robert Edison Sandiford, has a new graphic novel on the shelves.
Titled Great Moves, it was published in April by NBM with illustrations by legendary Marvel artist Geof Isherwood.
According to Sandiford, the stories are told from a variety of female viewpoints: a photographer is asked by her best friends to tape them having sex – only to have the camera turned on her; as he lies dying, an old woman reflects on the passionate life she has led with her husband; a young woman haunts Montreal’s motels for revenge on a lover lost on the tracks of Barbados’ railways in the early 1900s.
Great Moves, which is already garnering good reviews, continues an exploration of black and multiracial relationships begun in Attractive Forces and Stray Moonbeams, which have both been reissued by NBM.
Sandiford, the co-editor of ArtsEtc., has won awards at NIFCA and in the Frank Collymore Literary competition. (PR)
