GLENDENE HARRIS has complained to the police. She has complained to friends. She has complained to politicians. She has even taken her complaints to an attorney-at-law. But all to no avail. The Hoyte’s Village, St James woman has been on the receiving end of the unsociable acts of a neighbour who seems bent on making her life a living hell.Harris told the DAILY NATION she has been living at her present location for 11 years, and for the past eight she has had to endure a neighbour, whom she identified, throwing stones on the roof of her house day and night.Harris said the woman used to allow waste water to run off onto her property, and she spoke to her about it, but it continued.“I spent $1 400 building a ditch to offset her waste, but it didn’t really solve the problem,” Harris said.Harris also had attorney-at-law Kim Marshall write a letter to the woman in question threatening legal action if the waste water problem persisted. But Harris’ difficulties have continued.“The police have come and spoken to the woman before and they have told me that unless I actually saw her throw the stones they could not do anything,” Harris said. However, she said that invariably after stones struck the house and she looked out, she would only be in time to see the woman heading into her home or to see her door closing.Harris pointed out dents on the inner side of her galvanised roofing.“This is not fair that I have to be going through this and no one seems able to do anything about it,” she said.Harris lives in a small community with about four to five households.Police at Holetown Station confirmed that reports had been made, and yesterday public relations officer Inspector David Welch promised that he would look into the matter.Efforts to get a comment from the person identified by Harris were futile.
