THE Kickstart Football Club has raised funds for an upcoming tournament by helping to beautify Barbados.A Canadian businessman and returning visitor to the island, Henry Dunfield of HD Energy, donated $1 000 on the condition the children “beautified” Barbados. The young footballers decided to spend a Saturday morning cleaning the football grounds at Blenheim, where they regularly play.Many family members joined the young boys in collecting three skips worth of garbage and trash from the grounds. The boys raised in excess of $5 000 from this initiative to help towards the costs of travel for the team to participate in the Copa Riviera Tournament next month.Kickstart will send two teams to the tournament which will also have clubs from Africa, Panama, Mexico, United States, Sweden and Belgium, as well as academy teams from four British clubs – Chelsea, Derby, Crystal Palace and Reading.
