WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama called the United States World Cup soccer team yesterday to congratulate them on an “extraordinary victory” and to wish the team luck in the next round of the tournament.The United States team scored in injury time at the end of the second half Wednesday to beat Algeria 1-0 to advance out of group play.The game was poorly timed for the president, coming as he accepted the resignation of General Stanley McChrystal, who had served as his top commander in Afghanistan.
