THE Harbour Road was full of Love, Energy And Community last Friday night when the popular Brewsters Road Crew held their launch fete. With local and regional soca music organised by the Brewsters Road management, the launch blazed with old and new sounds. The hundreds of soca lovers were treated to live entertainment from some of Barbados’ best calypsonians. For almost nine hours, these party lovers were wining, grining, “jucking” and “wukking up” to fast and slow paced tunes “dropped” by all of the performers. After a few hours of deejay music, the Mighty Gabby started the show with Government Boots. With his lyrics and demonstrations, the calypso veteran managed to get the crowd to march from left to right. After that, he encouraged the crowd to Hit It, then took them to Dr Cassandra for a dose of medicine. Red Plastic Bag told the crowd Something’s Happening as he acknowledged he was Wining On The Wrong Gal. The crowd liked it. Edwin Yearwood seized the opportunity to entertain the audience with his Nah Missing Me and Middle of the Road. Yearwood also showed the rocking crowd how to Handle Ya Business. Hypa Dawg introduced some of his new songs, which included Out To All, What A Feeling, Getting Fat and the crowd favourite Go Down.(AH)
