The Barbados Statistical Service’s (BSS) 2010 population and housing census has been extended by two weeks because of inclement weather. The exercise, which began on May 2 and was slated to run over a six-week period, will now end on July 11. The extension will allow the enumerators, who conduct house-to-house interviews mainly on weekends, to complete the process. The census is to assess changes to the Barbadian population and housing landscape since 2000, when the last investigation was carried out by the BSS. It is also aimed at providing information on what the country needs to know in order to develop social policies and programmes. All information collected will be treated in the strictest confidence, as stipulated by the Statistics Act Cap 192. (BGIS)
