GOVERNMENT has plans to turn the old Bulkeley Sugar factory into a historical place of interest.This was revealed by constituency representative for St George South, Dr Esther Byer-Suckoo, during a sitting of Parliament yesterday.Reflecting on the contribution that the sugar factory had made to St George, Suckoo said that government was examining various project to capitalise on the history of the factory now that it was no longer in operation.She said it will form part of plans to focus on agro-tourism in St George.She said the factory had always been a major landmark in the parish and visualised persons in the community gathering there to sell local products including by products of sugar and agricultural products.She said agricultural was still a very strong heritage of the St George community and emphasised the need to find creative ways to get young people involved in the industry.
