Winners of an essay competition at the Eden Lodge Primary School were recently presented with their prizes during morning assembly. The prizes, Right Start accounts donated by the Barbados National Bank (BNB), were presented by Solange Bruce, assistant manager, marketing and corporate communications.The essay competition on Deviant Behaviour – Its Causes  And Solutions, was an assignment given to students in Classes Three and Four by George Hall and Grantley Norville, members of the Mount of Praise Wesleyan Holiness Church which has a mentorship programme with the school.First prize winners were Myles Wilkinson and Quanish Murray, while Djillett Hunte and Selyna Hollingsworth won the two second prizes. Two special prizes were awarded to Kuron Griffith and Trishann Lemon for improved writing skills.Bruce, in presenting the prizes, congratulated the winners and encouraged them to keep up their good work. She also congratulated students who completed the 11 Plus Exam.  She reminded them that the transition to secondary school was another big step in their development during which they must remain focused.     She also encouraged the students to be leaders and not followers and to always strive for excellence.    The BNB’s partnership with Mount of Praise Wesleyan Holiness church in the project was part of its Power To Make A Difference Programme, a focused approach to charitable contributions in key areas inclusive of health, education, poverty alleviation and youth development.
