Wherever ya turn on this island today, people are praying for Prime Minister David Thompson.Churches are praying and interceding in their services. Some churches are actually making declarations that whatever the problem is dat is plaguing the Prime Minister, will dry up and cease tuh exist. Some people are getting together in groups at different times and making it a point tuh intercede tuh God on behalf of the Prime Minister, day and night. Some schools from the primary tuh the secondary ones during their assembly on mornings before dey went on holiday were remembering the Prime Minister in their prayers. Politicians from both sides o’ the fence have put aside their differences and ask dat people remember the Prime Minister in prayer as he goes through this trying and testing time.I think it is one o’ my sisters who told me the other day dat a number of churches across the island are going tuh come together sometime soon tuh spend time in prayer for the Prime Minister while he is away undergoing tests. It is really amazing how just the other day all kinds o’ people was blister blin’ing the very Prime Minister in cuss ’bout the high cost o’ living, the gas, the food, the water, the electricity, LIME . . . you name it. But when it come out dat the Prime Minister was ailing and very sick, all of a sudden ya ain’t hear nuh more complaints ’bout dem things nuh more; evahbody attention went straight tuh the Prime Minister’s illnessWell, ya gine know dat all the Bajan doctors who ain’t went tuh school a full school term in duh lives yet, who ain’t got nuh kinda qualifications in nutten, or the ones who went tuh school at the pipe, gine start. Some o’ dem even trying tuh guess wha’ the man got; some saying exactly wha’ he got, and some using how he look tuh diagnose wha’ he got.I tell ya, Bajans ain’t easy at all, hear? Look, some people even vex as hell wid the man because he won’t say wha’ um is dat he got – you could imagine dat? Bajans is somet’ing else, den!But I gine tell ya something, though. While we out here might be praying and hoping and wishing, it must be really hard pon the family, his wife and daughters, who got tuh live through this whole ordeal. It got tuh be taking a toll pon dem. I could only imagine how they must feel seeing their father and husband losing weight and looking so unhealthy. It got tuh be a real trying time fuh dem.But I would hope dat we doan only pray fuh the Prime Minister and his healing, but fuh his family. We got tuh pray dat God would give dem courage and strength each day as they go through these trying times.I also pray dat the people, the politicians, the parliamentarians, and the ministers who now get left in charge o’ the running o’ this country would now step up.I just pray dat as the Prime Minister goes through his procedures dat he will be at peace and will rest assured in knowing dat evahthing here pon the rock is intack and running smoothly. I would hate tuh think dat he out there wherevah he is trying tuh rest and recuperate only tuh hear dat some o’ the ministers out here playing cowboys and Indians. Dat would only slow down his recovery now, and we doan want dat, right? Good!So we will all continue tuh pray for you, Mr Prime Minister, for your complete recovery and healing; for you wife and children; and for Barbados as we go through this time of great anxiety and change.
