Fairy tales still come true – and Danielle Bishop knows this all too well.  The 21-year-old beauty got the shock of a lifetime when she was announced as Miss Barbados World 2010.  “It was unreal and it is now beginning to settle in. I could not believe it at first,” she said. However, it was not smooth sailing for Danielle, who admitted that it took a lot to win the competition.  “It took a lot of hard work and dedication. I had to have a made up mind,” she said.  Danielle even admitted that initially she was not “crazy about the pageant”.“I was not really into pageants. I was more into modelling, but I got a tremendous about of help from AntonetteHinds, who helped me to prepare,” Danielle said. However, she is now more committed to involvement in pageants.
“I will not stop here. I am now ready to do what I have to do in order to win Miss World in China,” she said confidently.  And Danielle is taking all the necessary measures to make sure that she does well in the Miss World pageant.  “I have started public speaking training, and I have also started working on my talent already,” Danielle said.  She is also receiving tremendous support and help from former Miss Barbados World winners Leah Marville and Stephanie Chase.  “They are helping me with my wardrobe and giving all the support I need,” she added. The former St Winifred’s student has just been accepted to the University of West Indies, Cave Hill, to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She hopes to become a child psychologist in the near future.  Nevertheless, she has to put it on hold for a year to focus solely on the pageant.  “I have to concentrate on Miss World for now. I am also working on my campaign Reach Up, Reach Out.”
“The campaign deals with kids who were sexually abused and living with HIV and AIDS,” she confirmed.  Along with that campaign, Danielle is also working on a project, Beauty With A Purpose.  Danielle is looking forward to her upcoming pageant and with her industriousness, dedication and determination, she is sure to be successful.
