EARLY TODAY, nine hopeful calypsonians were placing themselves in primary position to challenge reigning calypso monarch Red Plastic Bag for his crown.  Veteran kaisoman Colin Spencer will be the first to try, and the people’s queen TC the last to impress the judges, after the draw for places in Friday night’s Banks/LIME Pic-o-De-Crop Finals at Kensington Oval.  Bag, the defending champ and nine-time king, drew the No. 9 position.
Following Spencer will be (in order) Anderson ‘Blood’ Armstrong, Sheldon Hope, Carolyn ‘Tassa’ Forde, the Mighty Gabby, Adrian Clarke, John King and first-time finalist Crystal Cummins-Beckles.  The draw for places was held at the National Cultural Foundation’s West Terrace, St James headquarters.
