There was a tumultuous reception from relatives, friends and wellwishers yesterday as the St Leonard’s Boys’ Choir returned from its tour of London, England.Smiling parent Annette Best, who went on the tour, said on exiting the arrivals hall: “They did Barbados proud . . . I feel so good.”Choir director Andrew Lokey shared similar feelings and said that it would take him an entire day to fully explain how proud he was of the boys.“The choir is now an inspiration to all boys’ choirs everywhere. We received standing ovations every time we performed,” he said.He added that he was particularly proud when the choir performed at the All Saints Church in Notting Hill before a congregation of many Barbadians. Lokey, who formed the award-winning choir just over two years ago, said he was pleased with the reception they got in London.“The people over there treated us like kings. I was very impressed,” he said.Musical director Pernell Farley said he would like the trip to become an annual one. (DB)
