‘I WANT to give God thanks for everything. I could have been dead today.”Those were the words of Member of Parliament Hamilton Lashley yesterday, while recuperating at his Halls Road, St Michael home after an accident which claimed the life of one of his closest friends on Tuesday.Sylvester Brown, 65, of Midway Lane, The Pine, St Michael, died on the spot while he was chauffeuring Lashley to a summer camp at South District Primary School. The collision, involving two vehicles along Hanson Hill, St George, resulted in Lashley sustaining a fracture of his right hand in two places, as well as a bump to the head and soft tissue injury to the stomach.“Syl Brown was my good . . . good friend. When the accident occurred I could not believe that it happened.“I looked at Syl and I asked: Syl, you alright? you alright? He didn’t move and I didn’t know at that point he had died,” Lashley told the DAILY NATION yesterday, shaking his head in disbelief.Among those extending well-wishes to the St Michael South East MP yesterday was Minister of Family, Youth and Sports Stephen Lashley, who paid him a visit.
