BURN MR HARDINGBurn Mr HardingBurn Mr Harding Burn…The burning of Mr Harding drew thousands to the Garrison Savannah and later to the Bridgetown Port in the 1970s and 80s to witness of the ritual that broughtCrop-Over to a close.Mr Harding was an effigy made of cane trash stuffed into an old pair of trousers and a coat, with a top hat on its “head”. He symbolised that period between sugar crops, when jobs and money were both scarce. (YB)
