REMEDIAL WORK will be foremost on the minds of local karters as they prepare to contest the seventh race day of the Barbados Karting Association (BKA) on September 5.Most notable among the drivers who will be kept busy with remedial work will be Joshua Parris, who had mechanical problems and also had to address challenges with weight during Automotive Art race day recently.As a result, he ended at the bottom of the 230 lb class with rookie Saviola Thomas.Parris could only muster 46 points compared with 92 points for Thomas.Bit it was a good day for drivers such as Christian Hinds, Javani Smith, Saviola Thomas and Joshua Maloney who drove away with top honours during the day’s action.Competing in the Yamaha 310 lb championship class, Hinds ended the day with 96 points to be ahead of the father and son combination of Allan and Mark Kinch who scored 75 and 67 respectively and last year’s champion Mathew Noel who ended his day with 66.In the ongoing battle between Javani Smith and archrival Tremaine Forde-Catwell in the Yamaha 270 lb Class, it was Smith who led the way with 89 points, three better than Catwell, who was five ahead of third-placed Raphael Russell who mustered 81.The family duel continued in the Easy Kart 60 cc class where cousins Joshua and Zane Maloney kept each other busy throughout the day’s action.However, it was Joshua who ended at the top of the group with 96 points, compared with 67 for Zane.
