Twelve-year-old Myles Myles-Z Gittens, the junior king, still has a long way to go to catch up with calypso king, The Mighty Gabby, 62, who took his eighth Pic-O-De-Crop crown on Friday night. But it seems that the young calypsonian who won his second crown this year is destined to follow in Gabby’s footsteps. The two met yesterday at a breakfast session and Gabby, who is helping several young people develop the art-form and wrote six songs for some of the Junior Monarch participants, was quick to congratulate Myles-Z with a friendly knock. Also present were Aziza Lil Az Clarke, who won the 13-18 category in the Junior Monarch competition and TC, who won the Sweet Soca Monarch.
