Warrens Motors secures vehicles before jump-up

WHEN THOUSANDS of costumed revellers assembled in Warrens, St Michael, on Kadooment Day, at least one business had measures in place to protect its property.  Mark Doherty, sales and marketing manager of Warrens Motors, said the car dealership secured its display cars.“All our vehicles are going in a bonded area in the back of the dealership,” he told BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY.  Debbie Simpson, chief executive officer of Simpson Motors, declined to comment on what measures that company would put in place against the thousands of revellers expected to assemble in the commercial district before parading to the Spring Garden Highway.
Calls for an extended route over the years were answered this year by the National Cultural Foundation and, for the second time in the carnival’s history, the jump-up began in Warrens instead of the National Stadium.  The exact route went from the Super Centre car park to Green Hill and turned left onto Codrington Road. Revellers then proceeded to parade before the judges outside the National Stadium rather than inside.  After the judging they took the usual route, turning left to Waterford, right to Station Hill, right at Eastmond Corner, left to Brighton Hill, then left onto the Spring Garden Highway.
