COLOUR in all its brilliance is an absolute turn-on for artist Neville Crawford, an artist we just don’t see enough of. But come Sunday, August 8, at the National Cultural Foundation’s (NCF) Queen’s Park Gallery, 6:30 p.m., sees the opening of Neville’s brand new solo exhibition – lots of brilliant abstracts by an artist who keeps ahead and is definitely worth collecting. Coming up August 14, new artist in town, Georgie Tuson at On the Wall, Champers. Curator Vanita Commissiong. Same day, the 14th, Dolly Small follows Neville Legall and Denzil Mann at Speigtstown Gallery of Caribbean Art with her photo shoot on canvas.
The following day is Rachelle Gray with a return to her look at Rastafarian ladies in all their splendour in a detailed study of photography stretched on canvas. “I-Queen 2” extends from the foyer of Frank Collymore Hall into its courtyuard for the show’s opening from 1 p.m. ’til 6 p.m. that sultry Sunday. Barbados Art Council’s Pelican Gallery has a more than usual eclectic selection for you to view. A hearty congrats for Sheena Rose after a successful residency at Cape Town, South Africa. Her arty travels have been logged on the internet, and it appears she had a ball at the Greatmore Art Studio where she did animation to reflect Barbadian culture and her goal is to become a prominent Caribbean Contemporary artist, she’s obviously a success story that Barbados Community College can brag about!
