HAS THERE BEEN an increase in the speed limit on Barbadian roads? I wonder.
In the absence of any scientific study it appears to me that many drivers are driving at speeds in excess of the legal speed limit.
What worries me is the fact that this speeding is taking place on roads that are virtually no more than pave cart roads.
Take for example, the so-called Highway I.
In some places it is not even as wide as a driveway leading up to some of the mansions that punctuate our landscape.
(Did I hear someone shout concrete jungle?) Has a proliferation of Japanese used cars (second-hand vehicles) and the availability of no down payment vehicle loans, transformed Barbadian drivers into a set of road hogs?
