Keep your chin up, Marilyn!

I WISH TO IMPLORE someone at the Nation to pass on to Marilyn Rice-Bowen these few words.

We may not sit on the same political fence, but I do admit that I have tremendous respect for you and the stance you have taken.

I have heard the criticisms being hurled at you but I would want to encourage you to keep your chin up.

There are going to be days when the pressure will bear down on you and you might want to kick yourself in the teeth for not being like others who sell their morals and principles for the love of a pay cheque.

I am very proud of you and your efforts, past and present.

There are some pockets of occupations in this country where people who have immunity or high authority believe that we are their creatures and nothing else matters.

The only creature you were formed from or to whom you belong is God Almighty!  So far I am persuaded that you operated above board (no pun intended), and by recusing yourself from the room where a matter would warrant it, is commendable.

I hate feminist groups because I find them to be too biased, but woman, I am proud of you!  The truth conquers all, so continue to stand up for your rights.

At the end of the day this is what matters, not political achievement. Maybe the Ministry of Labour will look at some of the vulnerable pockets of work, where people like you and I can be made to disappear at the stroke of a pen or a nod.

I wonder what the unions think about this matter!
