PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad – Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has invited New York’s Commissioner of Police Raymond W. Kelly to speak to the top brass of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.Persad-Bissessar, accompanied by Housing Minister Dr Roodal Moonilal, National Security Adviser Gary Griffith and Press secretary Garvin Nicholas, met with Kelly and his chief of staff on Tuesday at the commissioner’s office in New York.“The meeting with the Police Commissioner went very well. We spoke about crime initiatives that have worked in New York City,” Nicholas told the Express by phone from New York.He said the meeting lasted just over an hour.Nicholas said the population of New York was 8.4 million and last year its murder toll was 471, less than the murder toll in this country for the same period.(Trinidad Express)
