During the opening ceremony of the 2010 Hotel Workers Week at Solidarity House on Sunday, Caleb Clarke was named the Union Council of Hotel and Restaurant Workers’ 2010 Hotel Worker Of The Year.Clarke has been a security officer at the Sandy Lane Hotel for the past four years and a member of the Council of Hotel and Restaurant Workers for the past year-and-a-half.He was presented with a trophy after he was chosen from a field of eight nominees. There were nine other recipients of awards.Clarke told the MIDWEEK NATION that the award came as a surprise to him.“I was not expecting it because I have been in the hotel industry for four years and in the council for only 18 months. But I do work hard . . . It was a surprise because I was there for only a short time,” said the 53-year-old.
