March losing its intent

THANK GOD the Crop-Over festival is over and the island can get back to some form of normalcy.

I, however, applaud all of the artistes who contributed to the festival and congratulate them on their efforts.

But I am afraid we are losing the significance of the Emancipation Day March from Independence Square to the Bridgetown Market.

One gets the impression that the celebration is not well thought out, well marketed or well organised.

The record will also show that for the past few years the Pan-African Affairs department has failed to organise this event with any imagination to capture the community.
