THE BARBADOS VETERINARY ASSOCIATION (BVA) applauds Roberts Manufacturing for the stance taken on the sale of veterinary drugs as outlined in their July 2010 newsletter.

All such medicines will now be retailed only with a prescription from a licensed veterinarian.

This decision will enable veterinarians to better regulate, monitor and ensure the proper and correct administration of veterinary drugs and by extension provide optimum animal health care for both farm and pet animals.

The BVA fully supports and endorses this policy.

ROMA CLARKE, Secretary of the Barbados Veterinary Association
