RT’s Trucking Drax Hall have made a triumphant return to local volleyball.
Boasting a line-up of high-jumping youngsters and veterans from the golden era of that St George team, Drax Hall impressively defeated home side Oaces, 25-17, 22-25, 15-11, at Free Hill on Tuesday night in the Cooperators General Insurance Junior Knockout Competition.
Several fans who were around during the 1980s and 90s, when Drax Hall were a strong volleyball force, were on hand.
The night was a bitter one for Oaces who also lost their women’s game in three sets. After humiliating Carefree Toners 25-3 in the first set, Oaces folded, at 21 and 13 in the next two sets.
Up at Hinds Hill, home team The Club were able to pull off one of two wins after their Powerade-sponsored women were beaten by Sunpower Foundation United, 26-24, 19-25, 16-14, in a very exciting contest.
The Plus The Club men had to fight from a set down to beat Progressive, 11-25, 25-22, 25-18, in an equally enthralling battle. (KB
